the Caregiver Crisis

Investing in Caregivers

"Because caregivers are viewed as expendable resources in systems of care, they are overlooked, ill-prepared and poorly supported. We believe that caregivers should be cultivated, supported and celebrated. Investing community resources in educating and training caregivers, providing them a wide range of supports including respite, and celebrating their achievements and lives results in a higher quality of care, healthier, more effective caregivers, and a better quality of life for the entire community."

CARE-NET Coalition "Summer
of Listening"

The Georgia CARE NET Coalition is hosting "listening sessions" around the state in July, August and September, 2009. CARE NETS are listening to family caregivers to determine how the current economic climate is affecting them, to hear from families about what matters they consider of greatest importance, and of what help they need to continue providing care to family members. The data collected along with stories and testimonials, will be presented to members of Georgia's General Assembly and Key Agency Leaders in the Fall of 2009.
